Foodies
What: Sustainable Foodies is the premier group of champions for the cause of sustainable food in Central Texas. By providing support for SFC through sharing of time, talent and resources, Foodies act as an awareness and fundraising arm for SFC. Foodies are actively engaged in Austin and enjoy bringing new people into the life of SFC, helping those in underserved communities and spreading the fun of local, seasonal food!
Why: SFC cultivates a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food. SFC envisions a food secure community where all children and adults grow, share and prepare healthy, local food. Foodies participate in fostering this mission and vision through supporting the organization through:
- Ongoing financial stewardship of SFC.
- Connecting with fellow Foodies at Austin Farmers’ Market, at Foodies’ homes for a potluck and at SFC fundraising events such as the Food, Inc. and FRESH film screenings, Austin Restaurant Week and the SFC Chef Series at La Condesa.
- Engaging others in the community who may have affinity for SFC’s programs, such as local business owners or corporate contacts who might wish to sponsor the organization annually or via a Farm to Plate sponsorship.
How: $200 Annual Dues or $20 Monthly Dues, which includes:
- First-to-know about SFC events and opportunities such as classes, workshops and special offers from SFC partners like Resolution Gardens.
- News alerts on the local and national sustainable food movement.
- Acknowledgment as a donor on SFC’s website.
- Invitation to participate in quarterly gatherings, from breakfast at the market to happy hours at local restaurants to intimate farm tours.
- SFC t-shirt.
- Pre-sale on discounted tickets to Farm to Plate, SFC’s annual sell-out fundraiser at Barr Mansion.
What Else: Consider hosting a house party to raise funds for SFC and bring in new Foodies and supporters. This could take the form of a cocktail party, an art sale, a dinner, a local band’s show or a film screening on a backyard projection screen!
